Steels produced with this technics primarily used in surface drilling applications where air is the primary flushing medium. Phosphorising is to improve anti-erosion capability of the entire external rod surface area.

    The main feature of the Normet Self-Drilling Anchor(SDA) system is the application of a single-use drill bit in combinnation with the rock bolt being used as a drill steel. Thus, the rock bolt is connected to the hydraulic rock drill by an adapter device and installed in the way a conventional borehole is drilled. The Normet SDA program consists of the following:

    1. Single-use drill bits, which are available either hardened or with carbide inserts
    2. Hollow, steel bars, with a continuous outside thread
    3. Steel couplings, with a continuous inside thread
    4. Steel nuts
    5. Steel face plates
    The bolts in this TDS are classified according to thread type and material:
    R-type has a rope thread, and is available in sizes from R25-R51.
    T-typle is according to international standard, and is available in sizes from T30 to T103.
    FRP bolts are made out of fiberglass and available from S15 to SXX in both solid and hollow versions.

    It is mainly used for systematic support of surrounding rock with medium and good geological conditions.
    In the case of hard rock,horizontal bedding of rock strata, open joint fissures with mud or groundwater development, steel expansion shell bolts can be used to quickly form initial support, control the deformation of surrounding rock, ensure the stability of surrounding rock, and then grouting and permanent anchoring.
    After drilling the hole with a rock drill to the designed depth of the anchor rod, install the steel anchor head on the anchor rod body and put it into the hole.
    After installing the grout stopper, backing plate and nut,reverse the anchor rod to make the expansion shell anchor head expand to catch the hole wall, and then conduct grouting.
